About the Client:

Amoco Corporation, originally (1889–1985) Standard Oil Company (Indiana), former American oil company, one of the largest producers and marketers of petroleum products in the United States, which was bought in 1998 by the giant British Petroleum (BP PLC).However, Amoco and BP merged in 1998, combining their worldwide operations into a single organization

The Project Challenges:

Use of charts and computing techniques to calculate and convey information and to make sense of data is often common in business. Nevertheless, it comes with its own challenges and BP-AMOCO’s was struggling with one.

The strategic planning process at BP- Amoco involved an extensive process of data collection and integration. Across the strategic business units this process involves over 125 people directly involved in the process. As well as data extraction and collection process across a variety of applications and spreadsheets.

Apart from this, spreadsheets issues with lack of control, more susceptible to human error and log change are some other business obstacles faced by the client.
